I met her, knew her from a friend which is my sister (??). Did not concern so much how she developed a lot recently, most of the time I know her from her friend. What I know is that she's a writer, very talented one, open mind, beautiful, married, and probably getting more famous both in her community and in Indonesia. Sometimes I made jokes, I said.. Ratih Kumala.. can I get your autograph on your book please..?? And all the time she would hit me when I said that, jokingly of course. He..he.. so funny. So many times I feel I can't reach her 'level' on the frame of literature coz I always stated to public that I'm not a good reader.. well, I can say I'm not a reader actually. All books I ever read.. the number is too small and most of the time, for me they are either to answer my questions and curiosity, recommended by friends, or just for entertaiment. However, once you talk with her, you'll find that you don't need to feel stupid coz she, indeed, respects others' point of view, even to a 'non-reader' like me. For sure, I'm interested to other stuffs. And it's fun to have discussion with people who are almost completely different from you. One common thing about mbak Ratih and me is, I think, open mind.. Mbak Ratih, you know exactly what I mean.., ne? And btw, I like your writing about Kartini. I can say why, and I will say why.. but directly when we meet (when???)
